Herpes Blood Test: Everything That You Wanted To Know About Blood Tests
and Herpes
If you have contracted herpes, a herpes blood test
might be beneficial for you. Nowadays herpes serology or herpes blood test is widely available in diagnostic
centers. The problem is that plenty of uncertainties surround a herpes test and doctors find it very difficult to
interpret the results of herpes serology. Read on to know more about whether herpes blood test is absolutely
imperative or not.
At the same time I want to tell you why a herpes blood test isn’t always necessary. A herpes lesion
can be tested by a nurse or doctor, if you are that serious. But if you are simply worrying illogically about
whether the virus has indeed attacked you and there are no symptoms as such, you need not panic. Of course you can
go for herpes blood test but it is not really imperative. In short, you need not always bother with a herpes blood
test to determine if you have the virus.
To bust a few myths, it is rarely a serious condition, it is nothing to be afraid of, it is widely
feared but extremely common and whatever fear you experience is psychological. It is nothing more than a mere skin
disease and you don’t require blood tests for that.
Blood tests are also unreliable and in many cases a general blood test won’t yield much of an
accurate result. You should go in for more specific type tests if you want accurate results. And even if you
subject yourself to a herpes blood test, doctors don’t even know at times what exactly to do with the results of
those blood tests.
Even after an accurate blood test, doctors, or even you, won't be able to figure out where or who
you acquired the virus from. Depending on whether you are suffering from symptomatic or asymptomatic herpes,
doctors will decide whether you require suppressive therapy or not. Besides herpes blood test doesn’t improve
the patient’s psychosocial health and there is a lot of debate over whether the blood tests are really cost
effective or not.
